A quick reference for terms you'll see in the Vet Ready dashboard.

| Term | Definition |
|------|-----------|
| **Intake session** | A single AI-assisted conversation between a pet parent and the Vet Ready assistant. Each session produces a behavior profile and preparation plan. |
| **Behavior profile** | A structured assessment of a dog's readiness for a vet visit, generated from the intake conversation. Includes fear level, handling sensitivity, reactivity, and readiness stage. |
| **Preparation plan** | A personalized set of modules assigned to a pet parent based on their dog's behavior profile. Modules teach specific preparation skills. |
| **Preparation module** | A single unit of preparation content — for example, "Fearful Dog Handling" or "Puppy First Visit." Each module has a category, duration, and priority. |
| **Signal** | A structured data point extracted from the AI conversation. Six signals are collected per session: dog age, visit timing, vet visit fear, handling sensitivity, human reactivity, and dog reactivity. |
| **Safety flag** | A warning attached to a behavior profile when the AI identifies a concern that needs special clinic attention — like bite risk or sedation context. Shown as red badges. |
| **Readiness stage** | Where a dog is on the preparation spectrum: **Not Ready**, **In Progress**, or **Ready**. Driven by the behavior profile assessment. |
| **Channel** | How a pet parent reached your intake — web (direct URL), QR code (scanned poster), or referral. Tracked automatically. |
| **Organization** | Your clinic or practice on Vet Ready. An organization can have multiple team members and is identified by a name and slug. |
| **Slug** | The URL-safe identifier for your organization (e.g., `happy-paws-vet`). Part of your intake link. Set when the organization is created and cannot be changed. |
| **Anonymous client** | A pet parent who completed the intake without creating an account. Their data is still fully captured — they just don't have a name or email on file. |
| **Linked client** | A pet parent who completed the intake and created a permanent account (via Google or email). They can receive email reminders and track progress across devices. |
| **Today view** | The operational landing page at `/today`. Lists every appointment on a given date with a behaviour chip + prep indicator per row. [More](/docs/todays-schedule). |
| **Stress level** | The Today view's colour-coded chip (🟢 Calm / 🟡 Moderate / 🔴 High). Derived from the behaviour profile's fear, handling-sensitivity, and reactivity scores plus any safety flags. |
| **Flow** | A configured intake variant for a specific visit type (e.g. "Puppy First Visit"). Each flow has its own shareable link and QR code. [More](/docs/managing-flows). |
| **Connected app** | An AI assistant (Claude Code, Cursor, etc.) you've granted OAuth access to. Listed and revocable under **Settings → Connected apps**. [More](/docs/connected-apps). |
| **OAuth consent** | The browser screen that appears the first time you connect an AI client. Shows what scopes the client is asking for and who it claims to be — read before approving. |
| **Scope** | A label describing what a connected app can do. Examples: `mcp:platform:read` (read your clinic's data) / `mcp:platform:write` (change settings and create things). See [MCP Integration](/docs/mcp-integration). |
| **MCP** | Model Context Protocol — the open standard AI assistants use to connect to external data. Vet Ready ships a compliant MCP server at `mcp.vetready.ai`. |
| **CIMD** | Client ID Metadata Documents — the newer MCP client-registration mechanism. The client presents an `https://…` URL as its `client_id` and Vet Ready fetches + validates the metadata document. Supported alongside classic DCR. |
| **Recommendation card** | The in-chat card rendered to the pet parent after the opt-in question. Shows one preparation module's title + AI-spoken pitch with **Count me in** / **Show me a different one** buttons. |
| **Opt-in prompt** | The "Want to hear about it?" question the AI asks after the natural-language summary. The owner's reply gates whether any recommendation is surfaced at all. |
| **Skip budget** | How many alternative recommendations the AI will offer before it stops swapping (3 per session). After that, it presents the top remaining candidate and asks the owner to try it. |
| **One-liner** | The short (≤ 140 char) AI-spoken pitch for a preparation module, maintained by the Vet Ready content team. Supports a `{dog_name}` token. |
| **Intent-grouped tool** | An MCP tool that composes 2–4 REST primitives into a single call, returning a `next_steps` field so the AI chains without an extra LLM turn. `prepare_clinic_day`, `review_intake_and_respond`, `onboard_clinic`, `find_client`, `enrol_dog_for_visit`. |
| **MCP App** | A rich inline HTML card returned by an MCP tool (behaviour profile, today timeline, billing snapshot, intake review dashboard). Rendered by clients that support the MCP Apps extension; ignored by others (they see the JSON instead). |
| **Claude Skill** | A `SKILL.md` file with procedural instructions that teaches Claude *how* to use the MCP tools for a specific workflow (morning huddle, onboarding, billing reconciliation). Four skills ship with the Vet Ready MCP server. |
| **Huddle mode** | Large-text cast version of Today for projecting on a morning-meeting screen. Toggle with the **Huddle** button or the `h` keyboard shortcut. Hidden on phones. |
| **Welcome screen** | The branded landing page pet parents see *before* the AI chat opens. Configurable per-clinic under **Settings → Welcome screen** (logo, lead-vet photo, custom message with tokens). |
